IceHouse is one of the coolest projects in the city.

The LEED* Platinum residential development in Fishtown features 37 condominiums with a common area green roof as one of the main focal points.
LEED Platinum is the highest rating possible for any green building —and E-Built achieved it incorporating natural gas at IceHouse.  Some of those natural gas features include HVAC system, tankless water heater and oven.

E-Built is the Philadelphia-based construction management, general contracting and real estate development firm behind IceHouse, which is located off Columbia Avenue.  The company is committed to utilizing building practices that are sustainable, energy efficient and socially responsible.

E-Built President James Maransky is a Certified Green Roof Professional (GRP). Both demand and implementation of green roofs have been growing rapidly with several benefits – amenity space, storm water management, sustainability and utility reduction, density credits and tax credits.

Energy efficiency is a major goal for E-Built and they work closely with PGW on development projects as they typically use natural gas service for their projects.
“Working with utilities can be a challenge, but fortunately we have been routinely teamed up with a great Project Manager for PGW, Ed Durst” Maransky said.  “Ed does everything in his power to keep our projects on schedule.”

E-Built has projects throughout Philadelphia, but focuses on the Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Norris Square and Old City neighborhoods.

“E-Built routinely uses gas lines for grilling and tankless hot water heaters in their new home construction as it improves efficiency, which in turn improves value,” Maransky said.
Maransky has a background in energy consulting and believes natural gas is a sustainable energy that offers increased efficiency.
