PGW recently took its recruiting efforts on the road to the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Regional Conference in Bethesda, Md.
Several PGW employees across the organization represented the company at the conference.
NSBE is a nonprofit professional organization with more than 16,000 active members aimed at increasing the number of Black engineers and technical professionals in the workforce.
In fact, a participating employee came to PGW through an internship coordinated by NSBE at Temple University. He would stay on as a coop student before joining the Facilities Department after graduating in 2018.
Nationwide, utilities like PGW will add 70,000 jobs in positions ranging from engineering, information technology and customer service, through 2020.
A recognizable name for Philadelphians and within the natural gas industry, the NSBE conference allowed our team to connect with students and professionals with in-demand skills from Pennsylvania to the Carolinas.
This effort is one way PGW is continuing our efforts to attract develop and retain a diverse, skilled workforce in order to deliver safe, reliable natural gas service to our 500,000 customers.
